If you need the memory soon, buying a reputable kit now may be your best choice. Affordable stock tends to sell immediately, especially when automated buyers and resellers are involved, so waiting for a dramatic price drop is risky.
There isn’t really a secret store with cheap DDR5 in stock. Check used listings and local marketplaces, compare prices across multiple retailers, and watch for sales or bundle deals from computer stores. If your build supports it, sticking with DDR4 is still the cheaper option.
Look for retailer bundles, especially motherboard-and-memory promotions, since those can bring the effective price down. Also make sure you’re comparing equivalent kits—matching speed, timings, capacity, and whether the modules are sold as a tested pair.
Prices could improve over the next few years if demand from large-scale computing projects slows down, but there’s no dependable timeline for that.
