Why Am I Being Rejected for Entry-Level AWS Data Center Jobs?

I started as a Tier 1 warehouse worker and then received an offer to study infrastructure through an AWS training program, which I'm almost finished with. I understand the material and pass the checkpoints easily, and I also have some basic tech knowledge. However, I keep getting rejected for entry-level AWS positions, especially data center roles. Do these jobs still expect prior professional experience, and what could make my applications stronger?

Entry-level cloud jobs can be frustrating because employers often want experience before giving you the first opportunity to build experience. Try looking at internal transfers, referrals, contract or temporary roles, and technical support jobs that let you work with cloud systems. Getting into a related role and moving sideways later may be easier than landing a direct cloud position immediately.

When you say entry-level AWS jobs, which types are you applying for? Data center positions can still value practical experience, such as hardware troubleshooting, networking, Linux, ticketing systems, safety procedures, or working in a structured operations environment. Highlighting transferable experience from warehouse work could help, especially if it involved inventory systems, equipment handling, process compliance, or working under strict procedures.

I’m mainly applying for data center roles. I thought the training and basic AWS knowledge would be enough, but I’m starting to think I need more hands-on experience first.

Make sure your resume and professional profile clearly show the hands-on skills you’ve gained, not just that you completed training. Add specific labs, projects, troubleshooting examples, and the AWS services you used. An internal referral can also help, and contacting the recruiter for a particular job posting may give you a better chance of finding out whether your background matches the role.
