A renewal notice appeared in Settings asking me to renew AppleCare coverage for a pair of Beats headphones. I've never bought Beats headphones for myself, don't remember receiving them as a gift, and certainly never purchased AppleCare for them. The headphones don't appear in the normal device list under my Apple Account, although they show up in a device list after I dismiss the coverage offer. How can I determine why they're associated with my account and whether the alert is legitimate?

First check whether anyone else has access to or shares your Apple Account. A device can appear if it was previously associated with the account, even if you don’t currently own it. Since the Beats don’t appear in the regular device list, the alert may be stale account data or a display glitch rather than proof that someone recently added them.
Open Settings, tap your name, and review the devices linked to your Apple Account. Compare the Beats entry with your purchase history and AppleCare coverage details. If you don’t recognize it, don’t renew or provide payment information; contact Apple Support through the official support app or website so they can verify the serial number and remove any incorrect association.
I checked the account and the Beats aren’t listed there normally. They only appear in the device list shown after I decline the AppleCare offer, which makes the alert seem even more suspicious.
