Why can’t I access OpenAI GPT-5.6-sol in Bedrock?

We've been using Claude successfully, but my manager wants to use ChatGPT 5.6 through our system. When I try to run OpenAI.gpt-5.6-sol in the Bedrock playground, I receive an AccessDeniedException saying the model isn't available for this account. I'm signed in with the root account. What needs to be enabled or requested?

Open a support case and include the exact model ID, region, account details, and the full AccessDeniedException message. Support can verify whether the model requires approval, has regional restrictions, or needs account access enabled.

Thanks, I’ve opened a support ticket so they can investigate the account and model availability.

This usually needs to be checked or enabled by your account team. Contact your Technical Account Manager (TAM) and ask them to confirm whether the model is available for your account and region.

What does TAM mean?

TAM stands for Technical Account Manager—the person who helps coordinate account-level service access and support.
