My best friend died on the 3rd after serious neurological health problems and a seizure. Her phone was taken by investigators along with some medications and other items. For about a week, her location continued to show her home, even though the phone was no longer with her. Today it changed to "No Location Found." Could the phone have been turned on, searched, wiped, or had location services disabled, or is it more likely that the battery finally ran out? I know this may seem minor, but I'm grieving and the sudden change has been difficult to process.

Investigators could have powered the phone down, enabled a setting, or placed it somewhere that blocks its connection, but there’s no way to tell from the location screen. They also may simply not keep the device charged during an investigation. The timing doesn’t prove that it was wiped or that location sharing was deliberately disabled.
I’m very sorry for your loss. It makes sense that a small change on her phone would feel significant right now, but the location status usually can’t provide meaningful information about what happened to the device. If you need certainty, an investigator or next of kin may eventually be able to explain the phone’s status, but this message by itself is most likely just a loss of power or connectivity.
I also wouldn’t assume the battery should still have lasted. Location services, signal searching, and an aging battery can drain a phone quickly, especially if nobody is charging it.
