My gaming laptop actually delivers higher FPS and smoother gameplay while running on battery. When I connect the charger, the frame rate drops and the game starts stuttering or jittering. The original battery cells had failed, but I recently replaced the battery. The charger is the original one, and my power settings are configured for high performance. What could cause plugged-in performance to be worse than battery performance?

Also check whether the laptop changes resolution, refresh rate, or GPU selection when switching power states. A change to 1080p, a lower refresh rate, or the integrated GPU could make the behavior look like a power problem. Compare those settings in both modes.
Try using Balanced mode for both battery and plugged-in operation instead of High Performance. Some laptops behave strangely with that profile and may fail to boost the CPU or GPU correctly. Balanced mode can sometimes produce better real-world performance.
Since the charger is original, the replacement battery is worth investigating. If it is a non-genuine battery, the laptop may have trouble managing power while charging, even if the listed voltage, capacity, and connector match the original. Charging can trigger power-management or thermal limits that cause the stuttering.
