Why does my monitor only detect my PC after I unplug and reconnect the display cable?

Every time I turn on my PC, the monitor shows no signal until I unplug the display cable from the monitor and plug it back in. I've tried both DisplayPort outputs on the GPU, but the problem keeps happening. The monitor is an Acer XF243Y M3. What could be causing the connection to fail during startup, and how can I fix it?

If your graphics card is an RTX 4060, there have been cases where the DisplayPort connection fails its startup handshake with certain monitors. Update the GPU driver and check the card manufacturer’s support page for a firmware update. It’s also worth testing another DisplayPort cable and disabling fast startup in Windows to see whether the issue only happens during boot.

More details would help narrow this down, especially whether you’re using DisplayPort directly or through an adapter, the exact cable, your graphics card model, and whether the PC is fully shut down or waking from sleep. Since the monitor is an Acer XF243Y M3, also try selecting the DisplayPort input manually and testing another known-good cable.
