I've had this Google Chromebook for about eight years. A few days ago, it stopped charging and wouldn't turn on. It briefly started working again yesterday, but now it's unresponsive once more. I left it charging overnight and it showed 100%, yet it still won't power on or appear to be charging. What could be causing this, and is there anything I can try before replacing it?

Given its age and the intermittent charging and startup behavior, a hardware failure is fairly likely. It may be worth keeping as a temporary device while saving for a replacement, but avoid spending much on repairs unless the battery is inexpensive and easy to install.
After eight years, the battery may have reached the end of its useful life. A battery can sometimes report 100% while still being unable to provide enough power to start the Chromebook. Check the exact model and see whether a replacement battery is available and reasonably priced. If it still won’t work with a known-good charger or replacement battery, the charging circuit or another internal component may be failing.
Thanks, I’ll look up the model and see whether replacing the battery is practical.

I’m saving for a new one, so I’m hoping this can keep working a little longer in the meantime.
