My PC has a Ryzen 5 5600X, GeForce RTX 3060, and 16GB of DDR4-3600 RAM in two 8GB sticks. It was repeatedly blue-screening while I played Dead by Daylight. I previously reduced the memory speed to 3200MHz, set XMP/DOCP to Auto, and increased the Windows page file, which seemed to fix the problem temporarily. Now it has crashed three more times in one day. I suspect the RAM, but I cannot afford upgrades right now. What free or temporary steps can I take to make the system stable?

Changing the page file will not fix unstable physical memory. A Ryzen 5 5600X officially supports DDR4-3200, while 3600MHz is technically an overclock and may not be stable with every CPU or motherboard. Check that the two sticks are installed in the recommended dual-channel slots, usually A2 and B2—the second and fourth slots from the CPU. In the BIOS, try setting the memory to 3200MHz while manually keeping the kit's rated voltage, commonly 1.35V, rather than leaving the voltage at the default 1.2V. If it still crashes, run MemTest86 from a bootable USB. Any errors suggest a RAM, slot, or memory-controller problem. For the most conservative temporary setting, disable XMP/DOCP completely and run the RAM at its default JEDEC speed, such as 2133 or 2400MHz.
