My refurbished laptop disconnects from my home Wi‑Fi and shows the message, "Some information has changed since the last time you connected. We need additional information to complete the connection." I have to enter the network password again each time. This only happens on the laptop; my other devices stay connected normally. I have already tried changing the Wi‑Fi band, forgetting and reconnecting to the network, and uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless drivers. The laptop came with Windows 11, but I downgraded it to Windows 10. Could the downgrade or a compatibility issue be causing the repeated disconnects?

Since the laptop was downgraded from Windows 11 to Windows 10, the operating system installation or its wireless drivers could be the problem. A clean reinstall of Windows, preferably returning to Windows 11, may fix corrupted network settings and authentication issues. The message normally indicates that the saved security information is no longer being accepted, but it should not appear repeatedly on a stable connection.
Because every other device works normally, the laptop's wireless adapter or its Windows installation is the more likely cause than the router. Install the correct driver from the laptop manufacturer's support page rather than relying only on Windows Update. If that does not help, test the laptop with another network; if it disconnects there too, the adapter may be failing and could need replacement.
Try forcing the wireless adapter to use only one band at a time—either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz—instead of letting it switch automatically. Also check whether the router and adapter are using compatible WPA2 or WPA3 security settings. A mismatch can cause the saved connection credentials to be rejected even though the password itself is correct.
I already tried changing the band, but I haven't checked whether the router and adapter are negotiating WPA2 or WPA3 differently. I'll look at those settings next.
