My mother recently tried to send me $500 through Apple Cash, but I was asked to verify my identity and failed the process about three times. I entered my Social Security number, my legal first and last name, and addresses I have used for mail, but the verification still would not go through. Support only sent me additional verification prompts, which also failed, without explaining what information was incorrect.
I usually go by my middle name, and my Apple ID uses that name, so I'm wondering whether that could be causing the problem. Should I enter the name exactly as it appears on my government-issued ID, and does the address need to be my current residential address rather than a mailing address or P.O. box? What is the best way to resolve the verification lockout?

Enter your legal name exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID, not the name you commonly use. The address should also match the residential address on that ID or the address associated with your official records. A P.O. box or a separate mailing address can cause the check to fail. Also, a birth certificate generally does not include your Social Security number, so make sure you’re using the number from your Social Security card or official records.
This identity check works much like a bank’s customer-verification process. Make sure your name, date of birth, Social Security number, and residential address all match exactly, including things like a middle name or suffix.
