Why is my 32GB DDR5 kit only showing 16GB in Windows?

I installed a matched kit of two 16GB DDR5 T-Force Delta memory sticks. The BIOS and CPU-Z report 32GB installed, but Windows only detects one 16GB stick. I've already reseated the modules and tested different RAM slots. The kit came packaged together, and disabling XMP did not fix the issue. What should I check next, and is one of the sticks likely defective?

Since the kit came together, it should be matched. If the BIOS recognizes 32GB but Windows only reports 16GB, test each stick by itself in the motherboard’s recommended slot. If one module fails to appear consistently while the other works, the bad stick should be replaced under warranty.

Try clearing the motherboard’s CMOS, then boot with both modules installed and XMP disabled. Check the motherboard manual for the correct two-stick slots, usually A2 and B2. If the system still sees only one module in Windows after that, the memory stick or motherboard slot may be faulty.

Double-check that Windows is not limiting usable memory. Open System Configuration, go to Boot > Advanced options, and make sure “Maximum memory” is unchecked. Also confirm whether Task Manager shows 16GB installed or merely 16GB usable, since hardware-reserved memory can make those numbers differ.
