My Acer Nitro V15 has an RTX 4050, an Intel i7 processor, and 32 GB of RAM. A few weeks ago, my games ran smoothly, but now every game stutters even though the frame rate seems about the same. I haven't knowingly installed or changed anything recently. The GPU reaches around 91°C while gaming, while the CPU is roughly 60°C. I'm running Windows 11. What could be causing the stuttering, and how can I fix it?

First figure out whether this is a frame-time problem rather than simply low FPS. Check whether anything changed recently, including Windows updates, graphics drivers, power settings, or game overlays. Also monitor temperatures over time; a GPU temperature around 91°C is quite high for a laptop and could cause thermal throttling or inconsistent performance. Clean the vents, make sure the laptop is on a hard surface, use the correct performance mode, and check whether the fans are ramping up normally.
Since you’re on Windows 11, check Windows Update and your graphics driver history first. Try reinstalling or rolling back the GPU driver if the issue began after an update. It’s also worth disabling overlays from the graphics software, Xbox Game Bar, and other background applications one at a time to see whether one is causing inconsistent frame pacing.
Some people try changing the Windows boot timer with commands such as bcdedit, but those settings usually aren’t the right first fix and can create other problems. Start with temperature checks, power settings, drivers, and background processes. If the GPU keeps reaching about 91°C, investigate cooling before changing boot configuration.
The FPS looks about the same as before, but the games feel choppy. I haven’t intentionally installed anything, and the GPU has reached about 91°C while the CPU stays near 60°C.
