I'm not very familiar with computers, so I'm trying to figure out what could be wrong with my Windows 11 ROG Zephyrus G14 GA403 (2025). I've had it for about a year and a half. For roughly a week, it has made a faint buzzing or vibrating sound, but it suddenly became much louder while I was running a demanding modded Minecraft setup and on a voice call. The laptop was sitting at the game's menu for several minutes when the noise started. I could physically feel the vibration, and the sound changed when I held the laptop, so it seems like something inside is moving or spinning unevenly. Closing the game didn't stop it immediately, but after restarting the laptop, the noise gradually became quieter and eventually disappeared. It isn't happening right now. Could this be a failing fan or another hardware problem, and is the laptop likely to be seriously damaged?

A broken fan fin or failing fan bearing could easily produce this exact buzzing and vibration. If you’re comfortable opening the bottom cover, inspect the fans for debris, damaged blades, or anything rubbing against them. If you’re not familiar with laptop repairs, a repair shop can diagnose it without much trouble. The part may cost roughly $20–$50, with additional labor depending on the shop.
I’d avoid continuing to run demanding games if the vibration returns, especially if the laptop gets unusually hot. Save a backup of anything important, record the sound if it happens again, and check whether the fan noise changes with temperature or performance mode. Don’t deliberately break another fan blade to balance it—replace the damaged fan instead.
The fans are probably the only moving parts inside the laptop, assuming it doesn’t have a mechanical hard drive. A damaged fan blade, something caught in the blades, or a worn bearing can make the fan spin unevenly and cause the whole laptop to vibrate. Since the sound has been happening intermittently and gets worse under load, a fan problem is the most likely explanation.
Because the laptop may still be under warranty, it would be safer to have the manufacturer inspect or replace the fan rather than opening it yourself. Fan replacement is usually much cheaper than replacing the laptop.
