For the past few days, my PC has been noticeably louder than usual even though I'm not gaming or doing anything demanding. I checked Task Manager and noticed that NVIDIA Container (2) is consistently among the first few processes listed. It isn't installing an update, and ending the process only makes it return. I'm running Windows 11 with a Ryzen 9 7900, 32 GB of DDR5 memory, and an RTX 3060. What could be causing this, and how can I stop it from using so many resources?

One possibility is ShadowPlay or the NVIDIA overlay recording the desktop in the background. Check the instant replay, desktop capture, overlay, and recording settings, since these can cause extra activity even when no game is running.
The NVIDIA Container is a normal background component of the NVIDIA driver and can restart automatically after being ended. Its position near the top of Task Manager doesn’t necessarily mean it is using a significant amount of CPU or memory—check the actual percentage and sort by CPU, memory, or GPU usage. If the usage is genuinely high, restarting or reinstalling the NVIDIA driver and checking NVIDIA App or GeForce Experience background features would be reasonable troubleshooting steps.
I’ve already disabled the overlay and all of the recording features, so I’m not sure what else NVIDIA Container would be doing.
