I recently had a new PC professionally built, and I noticed that the small VRM fan mounted on the pump block of my Arctic Liquid Freezer never spins. I set the fan speed to 100% in the BIOS, but nothing changed. I also removed and reseated the magnetic fan module carefully, with no improvement. I checked behind the case as well, and all cables going to the fan hub appear to be firmly connected with no loose plugs. What else should I check, and could the fan or its connection be faulty?

The VRM fan may not be connected to the same control path as the radiator fans. Check the pump block’s small fan connector and follow it back to the motherboard or hub. If the builder used a hub, it’s possible this particular lead was omitted, connected to the wrong header, or needs a splitter. Since you already confirmed the hub cables are secure, try connecting the VRM fan directly to a motherboard fan header temporarily. If it still doesn’t spin at full power, the fan module itself may be defective.
Also check for dust or anything physically stopping the tiny fan blades. A buildup can prevent these small fans from starting, although it usually wouldn’t stop them completely if the blades turn freely by hand. If there’s no obstruction and the fan receives power when tested directly, the magnetic module or its contact points could be the problem. Since the PC was recently built, contacting the builder for a replacement module or warranty service would probably be the safest option.
