I'm comparing two Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards. The more expensive model lists a 3.06 GHz clock speed, while the cheaper one lists 1,660 MHz. How much difference would that make in actual gaming performance, and is the higher-clocked model worth paying extra for?

Different RX 9070 XT models should perform almost identically at stock settings because they use the same GPU and VRAM. Focus more on the price, cooler quality, noise levels, warranty, and whether the card fits your case. A three-fan model may run quieter, but it usually won’t deliver a major frame-rate increase.
The advertised boost clock is not a guaranteed constant speed. Actual clocks depend on temperature, power limits, workload, and the individual chip. Unless the more expensive card has other features you specifically want, the cheaper model is likely the better value.
Those numbers are probably the base clock and boost clock, not two competing performance levels. The 1,660 MHz figure is the base clock, while around 3 GHz is the rated boost clock. In normal use, the card will adjust its speed automatically, so the difference between these models should be very small.

A better cooler can sometimes help a card maintain higher boost speeds for longer, and factory-overclocked models may have a little more headroom. Still, the real-world gaming difference is usually only a few percent at most, so it generally isn’t worth a large premium.
