My Ugee drawing tablet works properly on Windows, but on Ubuntu it is detected only as a basic mouse. Features such as pressure sensitivity and the other tablet controls do not work. I tried the manufacturer's Linux driver and the OpenTabletDriver project, but neither solved the problem. I'm new to Linux and have only used Ubuntu so far. Would switching distributions improve my chances, and which one would be worth testing?

First, double-check the exact tablet model against Ugee’s Linux driver support list. Support can vary a lot between models, so changing distributions may not help if the device itself is unsupported or needs a particular driver version.
OpenSUSE with KDE may be worth trying. OpenTabletDriver is already configured or available there in some setups, and some people have had their drawing displays working with little extra configuration. Still verify that your specific Ugee model is supported before switching permanently.
Test another distribution from a USB drive using Ventoy. That lets you see whether the tablet and pressure sensitivity work in a different environment without installing anything or changing your current system.
That’s a great idea. I hadn’t considered testing it this way, and it should make comparing distributions much easier.
I’ll check the exact model again and try OpenSUSE from a live USB before replacing Ubuntu.
