My Windows 11 PC produces no sound and doesn't detect any audio input. The speakers and other audio devices appear to work correctly, my drivers are up to date, and the volume is turned up. In the audio settings, I also can't set the speakers as the default device because Windows says they aren't plugged in. What should I check to fix this?

First, confirm whether this happens with every audio device or only one type, such as speakers or headphones. Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage audio devices, then check the Playback tab. The intended device should be enabled and selected as the default. Since Windows reports that the speakers aren’t plugged in, double-check the physical connection, try another audio port or headset, and make sure the correct output is selected.
I checked the Playback tab, but Windows won’t let me set the speakers as the default device because it says they aren’t plugged in.
