I accidentally ended Windows Explorer in Task Manager, and restarting explorer.exe through Run new task didn't bring the desktop back. I've also restarted the computer, tried Safe Mode, and ran SFC and DISM. SFC reported corrupted files, but rebooting afterward made no difference. I can still open Task Manager and the Ctrl+Alt+Delete menu, but the rest of the screen is blank white. What should I try next?

Try running the repair commands again from an elevated Command Prompt opened through Task Manager, then restart. If they complete successfully but the display is still blank—even in Safe Mode—test whether creating or signing into a different Windows user account changes anything. That can help distinguish a damaged profile from broader Windows corruption.
Before reinstalling Windows, make a backup of anything important. A failing drive or damaged system files can cause this kind of behavior, and reinstalling without checking the drive may only provide a temporary fix. If you can’t access the desktop, use Task Manager to launch a file browser or Command Prompt and copy your files to another drive.
Since restarting Explorer, Safe Mode, SFC, and DISM didn’t resolve it, this may be more than Explorer simply being closed. The Windows installation, user profile, drive, or another hardware component could be corrupted. First, use Task Manager to back up important files if possible, then check the drive and memory health. If the hardware checks out, a Windows repair install or clean reinstall may be necessary.
SFC did report corrupted files, but restarting after both SFC and DISM still left the screen blank.
I already tried Safe Mode and got the same blank white screen there, so it may not be limited to my normal account.
