After updating my laptop, I'm stuck at the Windows login screen. It says, "Your PIN is no longer available due to a change in the security settings on this device. Click to set up your PIN." When I select it, I can sign in and choose to change the PIN, but clicking Continue produces a "Something went wrong" error. I can't access the desktop or my files, although I can change Wi-Fi settings, restart, sleep, shut down, and use accessibility options. What can I do to regain access?

If there’s a “Skip for now” option on the PIN setup screen, try using it to get past the prompt. If Windows lets you reach the desktop, back up your important files immediately before attempting more troubleshooting.
You can also try connecting the laptop with an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi. It may not be the root cause, but a wired connection can sometimes help Windows complete account or security checks during sign-in.
I’m already connected to Wi-Fi, so I’m not sure that’s the issue, but I can try a wired connection if the setup screen continues failing.
That’s the option I’m going to look for first. I’ll back up my files if I can get into Windows.
