My Xbox Series S plays game and chat audio normally, but none of my headsets pick up my voice. This started suddenly with a GameSir controller and JBL headset. I've checked the communication and privacy settings, confirmed the mics aren't physically muted, updated the controller firmware, reset the MAC address, and even factory-reset the console. I also tested a standard Xbox controller with a Razer headset, several headsets on a second Series S using the same account, and verified that I'm not communication-banned. The headset microphone works when connected to my PC. Could an account setting or headset cable issue be preventing voice input on Xbox?

Since the mic works on your PC and the same issue happens with multiple controllers, consoles, and headsets, check the headset cable itself first. The plug needs four metal contacts—the extra contact carries the microphone signal. A three-contact audio cable can still play sound but won’t transmit your voice. Also check the mute button beside the GameSir controller’s headset port and make sure it isn’t enabled. If possible, test the complete headset and cable directly on the PC, then verify the Xbox privacy and communication settings for the account again.
