Accidentally Deleted All My Photos After Windows 10 Install—Any Hope of Recovery?

I just did a clean install of Windows 10 and in the process, I accidentally deleted all of my photos. I've tried using Recuva, but it hasn't helped at all. I'm really worried because I don't know what I would do if I can't get my photos back. Is there any way to recover them, or are they lost for good?

Unfortunately, if you've written new data to the drive, programs like Recuva won't be able to retrieve anything since the data has likely been overwritten. This is a harsh reminder about the importance of backing up important files. It's tough, but it might be a lesson learned.

Honestly, it sounds like a painful situation. If this was the only copy of your photos, it’s a tough break. Going forward, make sure to have multiple backups to avoid this kind of loss in the future.

If you're using an SSD, the chances of recovering those photos are pretty slim. When you format and reinstall on an SSD, it often triggers TRIM, which permanently deletes the data. So, sadly, if that's the case, those pics are most likely gone for good.

Do you have any cloud backups, like Google One or iCloud? If you do, you might be in luck, since your photos could be stored there. Otherwise, it seems like you might be out of options.

Yeah, that’s true. If they were backed up on your phone or in any cloud service, checking those could save you a headache.
