Hey everyone! I was cleaning up my MacBook Air and accidentally hit "Empty" instead of "Delete" while trying to remove 10 files from the Trash. Now, I'm really stressed because it cleared the entire Trash bin. This happened a few hours ago, and I really need to know if there's a way to get those files back. I turned off my laptop to prevent any overwriting, but I'm unsure what to do next. Should I attempt recovery myself or take it to a professional? Any tips would be super helpful! Thanks!

Unfortunately, it sounds like your data might be gone if you don’t have a backup. Solid-state drives often make recovery difficult due to TRIM, which permanently deletes deleted files. If you rely on an external hard drive or cloud service for backups in the future, it could save you from this panic next time!
If you have a backup from Time Machine or another backup system, restoring from that would be your best bet. But if you haven't been backing up, the chances of recovery go down. You might just have to face it and start fresh if those files are crucial. Fingers crossed you get lucky!
I haven't set up backing up like that yet, I guess I'm really learning the hard way!
You really have to be careful with those options! But don’t worry, some recovery might still be possible. If you haven't overwritten anything, you might want to look into data recovery software. It can often recover files that were deleted from the Trash, but just be aware that it might not work every time, especially with SSDs. Best of luck!
Could you recommend any particular data recovery apps that are good for this?

Yeah, I need to figure out a good backup system. Thanks for the heads-up!
