I really need some assistance! I wanted to back up my personal files, like photos and documents, to an external hard drive using the robocopy command. Unfortunately, I messed up and set my OS drive as the source and the external drive as the destination. I only realized my mistake after about 5 minutes and hit Ctrl+C, but it looks like it wiped my personal files and possibly corrupted other data. Is there any hope for recovering those files? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I totally sympathize! I once deleted my data due to a typo, and it’s a lesson learned the hard way. You might consider hiring a disaster recovery service if your files are really essential. They'll have the tools to help recover what’s left.
First off, don’t lose hope just yet! As someone who’s faced similar issues, I recommend looking into software that specifically helps recover files after accidental deletion. There are options out there! Just make sure to run any recovery tools from a different disk to avoid overwriting anything.
You should avoid using the drive at all to prevent any further overwriting. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try tools like NTFS Undelete or PowerForensics, but there's no guarantee. It's worth a shot, especially if those files mean a lot to you!
I'm sorry to hear that! If you overwrote the data, it’s tough, but not totally hopeless. You might want to check out some recovery software like Recuva or a more professional service if the files are really important. Just remember, if it was an SSD, the chances aren’t great since the firmware might have already messed with the data. But if it’s a mechanical drive, definitely give recovery software a shot!
