Advice Needed for Building a New PC: Components and Compatibility

Hey everyone! I'm trying to put together a new PC after a long break from building. I'm on the fence about whether to stick with my old X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING motherboard or invest in a new one like the GIGABYTE B550 AORUS ELITE V2. I also have an MSI X470 Gaming Plus board, but I'm not sure if it's a good option. I've been doing some research, but I'm still confused about a few things.

Here's what I'm planning to buy:
- Ryzen 7 5800 XT
- XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 7600 Graphics Card (8GB GDDR6)
- Either a Thermaltake Berlin 750W Power Supply or CORSAIR CX750 (which is better and do I need specific PCI cables for the RX7600?).
- SanDisk Plus Internal SSD SATA 2.5 (what's the difference between this and the NVMe version?)
- ARCTIC P12 Pro PST case fans
- GAMDIAS Aura GC1 Elite PC case
- Corsair VENGEANCELPX32GB (already purchased)

I'll primarily use the PC for sim racing and gaming. Any advice on whether I need the new motherboard, the best PSU for my setup, and what SSD to buy would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you're on the right track! Since you already have the X470 board and RAM, it doesn't make much sense to change unless you're aiming for the latest tech. The X470 is still capable, especially when updated with the right BIOS for the Ryzen 5XXX series CPUs. Just make sure to check that!

As for your GPU, the RX 5700XT is a great alternative to the 5800XT if you’re looking to save a little cash, as it's nearly as powerful for less money.

Regarding your power supply, I’d recommend the CORSAIR CX750 for its reliability and efficiency. Having a Gold-rated PSU can save you on electricity in the long run!

For storage, I highly suggest skipping the SATA SSD and going for an NVMe drive instead. It's way faster and more suited for gaming in 2025!

Ultimately, choose the case you love and ensure it fits your components without any compatibility issues!

Great insights! I also agree about choosing an NVMe if your motherboard supports it; they're just significantly faster than SATA. Plus, you get to enjoy quicker load times on your games!

Hey! Just a heads up, if you’re looking to save some dough, consider which games you play the most. If they don't require top-tier graphics, sticking with your current motherboard and opting for the RX 5700XT could be a smarter choice.

Also, for your PSU, check the number of PCIe cables you need for the RX7600 and make sure the one you pick has enough. The CORSAIR is reliable from what I hear, and it’s generally better to have a bit of headroom when it comes to power.

As for the SSD, I’d definitely go with NVMe if you can swing it. They’ll give you a major speed advantage for downloads and in-game loading!
