Hey everyone! My mom just started a new job that requires her to do a lot of work from home, and she's looking to upgrade from her laptop to something more suitable. She mainly works with spreadsheets, so nothing too demanding, but she also wants to play some games, specifically The Sims 4. I've put together a parts list using some spare components I already have. I'm curious if you have any feedback on whether these parts will work well together and if they're worth the price. Also, here's a link to her current laptop for reference.

When building PCs for others, my advice is to steer clear of it unless you're ready for potential support issues. For light work and casual gaming like The Sims 4, a mini PC might actually be a great fit! The Sims 4 can run on pretty basic hardware, so consider that when choosing parts.
Good point! I added her laptop info to my post for better context. I'm okay helping my mom if issues arise since we have a great relationship.
If it's a work-related task, it's often best if the employer provides a work computer. Using personal devices for work can be tricky, especially with data security in mind.
That's fair, but in this small office, everyone uses their personal setups.
If she’s mainly playing Sims, you might not even need a dedicated graphics card. The integrated graphics should handle it just fine. You might save some cash by going with 16GB of RAM instead of 32GB; she likely won't use all that for her tasks.
Yeah, but I have a GPU lying around, so I might as well use it. No point in letting it go to waste.

Totally! A prebuilt mini PC could save a lot of hassle. I wouldn't build one for family either if I can avoid it.
