Advice Needed for My First Custom PC Build

Hey folks! I'm gearing up to build my first custom PC, and while I'm a bit nervous, I believe that taking the plunge is key to success. My budget is £3500, and I'm aiming for a system that offers good thermals and quiet operation, rather than flashy RGB lights and screens everywhere. Here's the list of parts I'm considering so far:

**Core Components**
- **Processor:** AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D
- **Graphics Card:** Gigabyte AORUS MASTER ICE RTX 5080 (16GB)
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE (I'm contemplating whether to switch to a B650 because I'm not sure it'll impact performance much.)
- **Memory:** 32GB (2x16GB) G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB White (6000MHz CL30)

**Cooling & Chassis**
- **PC Case:** HAVN HS 420 (White)
- **Liquid Cooler:** Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420 A-RGB (White)
- **Intake Fans:** 6x Arctic P14 Pro Reverse A-RGB (White)
- **Exhaust Fans:** 2x Arctic P14 PWM PST A-RGB (White)

**Power & Storage**
- **Power Supply:** Corsair RM1000x SHIFT White (1000W ATX 3.1)
- **Storage:** 2TB Top-Tier PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD (like WD Black SN850X or Crucial T500)

I'd really appreciate any input! Are there changes I should consider, or am I overspending on certain components? Once I finalize the parts, I'll start watching tutorials to learn how to actually build it. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to help out!

Wow, your budget is quite high for a first build! The components you've picked are pretty high-end. For a first-time setup, that Ryzen 7 X3D is seriously expensive, especially if you’re mainly into gaming. You might not notice significant differences unless you’re coming from a much older CPU. Also, have you considered a 5070Ti instead of the 5080? It could save you some cash without sacrificing too much performance. Just a thought!

I see your point. I’ve been gaming on a laptop, and it's noisy and gets pretty hot, so I thought about going all out for my first build with better performance. But you're right, I should weigh the options more carefully.

If you're choosing between B650 and X870, remember that B650 won't support PCIe 5.0 for the GPU, but it doesn’t make a huge difference in performance. If you're not worried about USB4 support, I'd recommend going for the B850 instead.

Also, the HS 420 and the liquid cooler you picked are definitely more about aesthetics. If you're looking for a more budget-friendly approach, something like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit with a case like the Lian Li Lancool 217 can offer good performance at a lower price. A quality 850W power supply should be more than enough for your build!

Thanks for the insight! I had considered the Phantom Spirit, but finding a white one is tricky. Since I'm eyeing the 420mm liquid cooler, I'm hoping it will keep things cooler without needing extra fans up top. I also just want the HAVN HS 420 for its vertical GPU setup. I'll definitely check out cases with better airflow. Thanks for the tip about the B850; it really helps!
