Advice Needed: Should I Build a PC or Go for a Laptop?

I'm in a bit of a bind with my computing options. I have some old PC parts laying around and ideally, I would prefer a laptop, but my budget is really tight. I'm considering whether to buy a few new parts to build a PC instead. Here's what I currently have available:

1. A Gigabyte H61 Motherboard (that's not functioning)
2. Intel Pentium G640 CPU
3. 4GB DDR3 RAM
4. 500GB HDD
5. A basic cabinet

I'm missing a power supply, and I had one before but had to return it because the motherboard started acting up. My maximum budget is about 7000 Rs. Since I'm a student who will soon be moving out for further studies, I really can't spend more on a laptop. Any recommendations?

Are you looking to play games on this setup, or are you just focused on school tasks? It might be better to get a used office PC that can work with your existing RAM. You've got decent storage, although HDDs can be slow if not maintained. If gaming is your aim, it might be a stretch on your budget unless you find a PC with a reasonable graphics chip already in place. Just a thought!

I’m leaning more towards learning things like Linux, cybersecurity, and mobile software, plus I want to get into video editing, so I really need a solid processor. I have a potential laptop deal for $200 that looks great! It's an HP with an Intel i5 (10th Gen), 8GB RAM, and a 1TB HDD plus 256GB SSD, all with good battery life. Should I go for that instead?
