Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC for both gaming and using FL Studio for music production. Here's my current setup:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 3 3100
- **GPU**: AMD RX 5600 XT
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2
- **RAM**: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz (when the XMP profile is enabled)
- **Storage**: 512GB SSD and 1TB HDD
- **PSU**: Approximately 550W-600W (not sure)
- **Cooling**: Stock CPU cooler
- **Case**: A medium-sized case (can't remember the model)
- **OS**: Windows 10
- **Monitor**: AOC Q27G3XMN (1440p)
I mainly use my PC for gaming—both singleplayer and multiplayer—as well as for music production with FL Studio. Given my current setup, what would you suggest upgrading first for better performance in gaming and FL Studio? Should I prioritize the GPU or the CPU? I'm also experiencing some crashes lately, which I suspect may be related to AMD drivers, and I'm not too keen on sticking with AMD unless there are significant improvements in their newer models. I've done a bit of overclocking on my CPU and GPU too.
Additionally, should I consider upgrading to Windows 11? I've heard HDR looks better on Windows 11 and my monitor supports HDR. I'm open to any advice or suggestions for a good upgrade path and specific models that fit my mid-range to slightly high-range budget. Thanks for your help!

For FL Studio and music production, having a faster CPU will also help with rendering and multitasking. But since you're mainly gaming, stick with the GPU for now. As far as Windows 11 goes, it has better support for HDR, especially if you want to take advantage of your monitor's capabilities. If you're considering the upgrade, it might be worth it.
It sounds like you're in a good spot for an upgrade! Given your main focus on gaming, I’d recommend starting with a new GPU. The AMD RX 5600 XT isn't bad, but something like the NVIDIA GTX 3060 or an AMD RX 6700 XT would be a massive boost, especially for 1440p gaming. If your budget allows, you should also look into getting a more powerful CPU later because that Ryzen 3 can bottleneck higher-end GPUs in some games. But if you're having driver issues and crashes, definitely check your drivers and consider a fresh install of those before you upgrade.
I totally agree! Upgrading to a more powerful GPU will definitely help with your gaming experience. And since you mentioned crashes, sometimes a clean installation of the OS can resolve those pesky driver issues. If you go with a new GPU, make sure your PSU has enough wattage to handle it!
Yeah, if you're into HDR content, Windows 11 could be a nice upgrade. Especially if you're open to it, that could improve your overall experience!
