AI, ML, or Web Development: Which Should I Choose for a Quick Start?

I'm new to programming and I need to land a job within a year. Given my complete lack of coding knowledge, I'm trying to decide between focusing on artificial intelligence/machine learning or web development. While I'm not looking for a high-paying position, my main goal is to gain experience and learn on the job. Any advice on which path might be better for me?

It's worth noting that the tech landscape is really competitive right now. While web development has a broader entry point, the job market can be hit or miss depending on your location and what skills you learn. AI/ML could be tougher, especially without prior knowledge, but if you find a niche project or specialization, you could still make it work in the long run. Just be ready to hustle!

Thanks for the insights! I guess I need to focus on one thing at a time and see where that takes me.

Honestly, I think trying to get a job in either field within a year might be tough, especially starting from scratch. Web dev is probably your best bet since it's a bit easier to get into, but don't expect it to happen overnight. You really need to dedicate yourself to learning and building a portfolio if you want to stand out in the job market.

If you're aiming for a job within a year, web development is definitely the way to go. It's more accessible, and there are tons of projects you can dive into that will help you build your skills quickly. Unlike AI/ML, which usually requires a strong math background and often a degree, web dev roles are plentiful and you can start freelance or work with startups without needing a formal education. Just make sure to get hands-on experience building some projects!
