I'm currently working as an analyst programmer and have about two years of experience. I'm looking to expand my professional reach, and I think creating a portfolio could be a good step. However, I'm wondering about alternatives to the usual suggestions like building a personal website or using GitHub. Most of my projects have been company-focused, and I don't have any personal projects to showcase right now because I'm heavily involved in my work and support roles. I'm considering putting together a portfolio in document form, kind of like a resume that emphasizes my responsibilities and roles in the projects I've worked on. What do you all think about this approach? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! And sorry if my English isn't perfect; it's not my first language. Thanks in advance!

Have you considered getting involved with larger open source projects? I've seen a lot of applicants showcasing their small personal projects, which is fine, but being part of a multi-developer team tackling a big existing codebase can be much more impactful. It demonstrates your ability to work with complex code and shows that you can collaborate in a team setting, much like what you'll encounter in larger companies.
I hadn’t thought about that! Sounds like a great opportunity, especially since I want to learn from others' code and their processes. Most of my code hasn't been reviewed by a senior dev because that position is currently vacant at my company. So any feedback would really help!
