I've got an Intel Core i5 12400F and just upgraded my GPU from an RTX 2060 to an RTX 5070Ti. I tried playing Cyberpunk 2077 at 2K resolution with max settings, including path tracing and DLSS quality. When entering crowded areas, my CPU usage skyrockets above 70-85%, while my GPU stays under 80%. I'm aware that Intel's 13th and 14th gen CPUs aren't the best, so I'm hesitant to upgrade to those. Some friends have recommended switching to an AMD CPU like the 7800X3D, but that would involve buying an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 RAM, which costs around 615 USD in my area—definitely out of my budget right now. So, I'm considering two paths: 1. Temporarily upgrade to an i7 12700 for $170, or 2. Wait until 2026 to switch to AMD and lower my graphics settings in the meantime to ease the CPU load and enable Frame Generation. What do you think would be the best choice?

If you update your BIOS, going for a 13th/14th gen CPU could work fine. Something like a 13600k or 14600k might be a solid choice too. The 12700K remains a strong contender if you're looking for an upgrade!
Crowded areas in games are usually heavy on the CPU since it handles NPC movements and logic. Given your high settings with ray tracing and DLSS, it’s normal for your CPU to hit those high usage levels. If it’s just temporary spikes, I'd recommend waiting it out for your AMD switch.
Honestly, stop focusing too much on those usage numbers. If your frame rates are playable and you're enjoying the game, that’s what matters! Typically, a true bottleneck would show 100% CPU usage while the GPU sits way lower. Since your GPU isn’t maxed out and your FPS isn't suffering, it sounds like your system is pretty balanced as is. Upgrading right now might not make much sense.
I have a 12600K with a 5070 and I haven’t noticed any bottleneck, but I did overclock my CPU. The 12700 could help, but I'm not entirely sure about it. You might want to do some research first!
Cyberpunk 2077 is super CPU intensive, especially maxed out. If you save your cash and wait for a full upgrade, you might not even notice a minor FPS change since the 5070 Ti could bottleneck you before you see any real benefits. Just hang tight!
Thanks for the insight! Overclocking is an option I might consider if I decide to stick with Intel.
