Am I Safe If I Stopped a Game Download Halfway?

I was downloading a game from a questionable website, and I realized too late that it might not be safe. The game's file size is 3GB, but I stopped the download at 1.2GB. Since I didn't complete the download, I'm wondering if my computer is still at risk. I was downloading a .zip file, so I'm a bit worried. What are your thoughts?

Until you open or extract the contents, you should be alright. If there was any malware, it usually activates when you run the installer or executable, not just from having a zipped file.

As long as nothing was prompting you for permissions during the download, you should be good. It's always best to delete anything you didn't finish downloading, though, just to be safe.

You're probably in the clear! Even if you had completed the download, a .zip file itself isn't executable until you open it. Just make sure to delete that partial file and you should be fine.

I wouldn't worry too much. A file that's still downloading can't really execute anything. Just delete the incomplete download, and maybe run a quick virus scan to be extra careful!
