Hey everyone, I'm currently running Linux Mint and dual-booting from an external SSD. I'm also using Mullvad VPN with both a killswitch and lockdown mode that prevents internet access unless I'm connected to the VPN. I'm wondering, with this setup, is it safe for me to torrent?

Yes, as long as you're using a VPN like Mullvad, you should be good to go for torrenting! Just make sure your VPN is active whenever you're downloading any files.

I use Mullvad too! While MAC spoofing is nice, it's not really needed since TCP-IP packets don't include your MAC address. The killswitch feature is helpful, but I recommend binding your torrent client to the VPN adapter. This way, if the VPN drops, torrenting will automatically stop. I had a bad experience with another VPN, and it was a nightmare for torrenting. Mullvad should be more reliable, but binding is always a safer bet.

Thanks for the advice! Is there anything else I can do to avoid any legal issues while torrenting?
