I'm trying to build a gaming PC with a target performance of 500fps in SiegeX, and I want to know if I'm overspending or underspending on my components. Here's what I have so far:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE link Titan 360 RX LCD Liquid CPU Cooler
- Case: NZXT H9 Flow
- OS: Windows 11 Pro
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero
- PSU: Corsair RM1000X ATX 3.1
- SSD: 2TB WD_BLACK SN850X (Gen 4)
- RAM: 2x16TB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000 CL28
- GPU: Not decided yet. I'm considering the 5090 FE for retail, but I might downgrade to a 5080.
Also, I'm curious about the RAM: I've found CL28 is only $20 more than CL30, so is CL28 a better choice? And is it worth going for a Gen 5 SSD since it's not much more expensive? Lastly, besides my main components, do I need anything else to get my PC fully operational?
Any feedback would be helpful!

Honestly, your CPU cooler and motherboard are massive overkill for what you need. You could easily find a solid motherboard for around $150 that would do the job just as well. You don't really need Windows Pro unless you specifically want features like the Windows Sandbox, so you might be able to save some cash there too.
Got it! What’s a good motherboard you’d recommend? What’s the difference between cheaper options and the pricier ones?
