I've just discovered that 1Password has raised their prices by a whopping 33%, and it's making me seriously consider switching to an alternative. I might just try Apple's built-in password manager since it's free. Has anyone else made the switch? How did that go for you? I'm also curious if there are any open-source options out there that are worth checking out!

Since I have a Proton subscription, I also get Proton Pass, which is an awesome password manager. It’s not open-source, but if you’re already in the Proton ecosystem, it could be a great choice for you.
I agree with this! It works seamlessly if you’re trying to reduce dependency on Google.
Bitwarden is a great choice! It's open source and has both a cloud version and the option to self-host. I've been using it for a while now, and it even manages TOTP tokens and SSH keys, which is super handy! Plus, it’s free for the basic features.
Absolutely seconding this! The mobile app is also very user-friendly, making it easy to manage passwords on the go.
And for those who are into self-hosting, Vaultwarden is a cool option that works with Bitwarden's clients.
Honestly, I'm fine with staying with 1Password despite the price increase. They haven't raised prices in years, and for me, the service quality has been worth it. But I understand everyone's frustration with the sudden jump!
I get where you're coming from, but with subscription fatigue hitting so hard right now, I think exploring other options makes sense.
Totally agree! But after comparing features and reliability, I might just stay on board too.
Keepass is another solid alternative. It's open source and can be fully offline, which I really like for security reasons. Plus, there are various clients available for different operating systems.
What version of Keepass do you recommend for iPhone and Android? I'm looking to switch.
KeepassXC is popular and has good support on multiple platforms!
I started using Apple Passwords after hearing about the price hike. It's a decent option, especially if you're fully in Apple's ecosystem. However, it lacks some advanced features compared to 1Password.
I’ve found it pretty user-friendly for sharing passwords, but I do miss having more customization like notes for entries.
It does have some limitations during cross-platform use. Make sure you think about that!

Totally! Proton Pass has a nice interface and integration with other Proton services.
