I'm dealing with my APC Symmetra LX 16000 unit, and for the second time this week, I've received alerts stating that the internal battery temperature exceeds the critical threshold. Last Thursday, my unit had this issue, so I swapped out the faulty battery with a spare I had. The old batteries were extremely hot and visibly damaged, which made me think that one bad battery might have caused a chain reaction. However, just three days later, the same error occurred with the same battery bank. I'm wondering if this is just bad luck or something more serious. The batteries come from different vendors. What should I look into? Should I try another battery, or could this be a problem with the power module?

It sounds like you're dealing with a serious issue. If the same battery bank cooked a second set of batteries in just a few days, you should investigate possible problems with the charger or float voltage, temperature probes, airflow, or even room temperature. Check those components before replacing more batteries individually. It’s better to replace the whole bank with matched batteries rather than mixing and matching.

I definitely agree with you. I always make sure to replace batteries with matched ones. The room temperature is usually cool here, but I’ll definitely check the airflow; it’s been a bit dusty after years without maintenance. How do I actually check the float voltage?
