Hey everyone! I've been using my computer for over a year and I'm looking to upgrade my storage since my 1TB NVMe is filling up. I want to take advantage of the second M.2 slot on my motherboard for more space. A friend of mine, who works in IT, warned me against getting anything over 4TB, claiming that 8TB NVMe drives can be unstable. Is there any truth to this?

I've always heard that higher capacity NVMe drives have better chips, so I wouldn't worry about stability at all. Just make sure your motherboard can handle another NVMe without impacting your graphics card!
I've got to say, I find that claim a bit hard to believe. But yeah, 8TB drives can be pretty pricey! If I were you, I'd consider sticking with 4TB for now. They're way more affordable and widely available. You can always upgrade later when the prices drop.
I really doubt that stability issue. To be honest, your friend might be misinformed. But you're right about the costs; decent 8TB drives aren't cheap at all.
I've never heard of any stability issues with larger drives like that. Honestly, if you're worried about the price, that should be your bigger concern. They're definitely on the higher end cost-wise.
I actually think it's the other way around! Bigger drives often use more chips, which helps distribute write cycles and can make them more reliable.
