I'm in the process of building a new PC mainly for work and some casual gaming. I'll be running multiple virtual machines, doing photo editing, and using Premiere Pro lightly. I've been looking at AMD's higher-core-count CPUs, especially the 9900X, 9950X, and 9950X3D. I've come across numerous reviews and posts about micro-stuttering issues attributed to the dual-CCD design. I've heard that recent BIOS updates might have improved this situation. My questions are: Do these micro-stutter issues still occur in real-world usage? When people mention micro-stuttering, is this simply referring to minor frame rate dips or is it a noticeable problem during gaming or while working? I'm planning to pair the CPU with either an RTX 5070 or an RX 9070 XT, likely the AMD GPU due to its better compatibility with Linux for KVM.

I own a 7950X3D, which features a dual CCD layout, and I haven't encountered any micro-stutters. Is this issue exclusive to the 9000 series?
I don’t have any problems with my 5950X, but I often limit one CCD for gaming while using the other for tasks like hosting a media server. You might want to check out Process Lasso if you're interested in optimizing your load.
I have a 9950X3D paired with a 5090 and I game at 4K. No stuttering whatsoever! Just make sure to keep your chipset drivers and BIOS updated. As long as your settings are right (windows on a balanced power plan, game bar on, etc.), you should be just fine.
I have a 9950X3D and I've faced no issues at all. Just stick to the balanced Windows power plan and you won't encounter anything problematic.
Thanks for all the responses! I was hesitant about getting a dual-CCD CPU, but I'm feeling pretty convinced now!
I'm using an older 5950X, and I can’t say I've experienced any micro-stuttering. It feels similar to when you go to a friend's house and see their TV's motion smoothing. It's a complete nightmare if you notice it, but if you don’t, it’s not an issue at all...until you do notice.
