Are Lianli Strimer Wireless Cables Safe for My New 5090 Graphics Card?

Hey everyone, I'm about to buy a 5090 graphics card and I'm curious about using Lianli Strimer wireless cables with it. I know these cables are typically safe for motherboards, but I've heard about issues like melting in the past. Is that still a concern? Also, can anyone explain the differences between the older Strimer cables and the new wireless ones? I think the new cables are reinforced, but I'm not sure if that addresses any risks. Would love to hear your thoughts!

If you're using an ASUS 5090, you might be in luck! With the Power Detector+, you'll get alerts if any pin is drawing too much or too little power, so that can help you avoid major issues. But let's be real, the risk is kind of part of the deal when you go for a 5090. The burning issues haven’t really been linked to the cables themselves from what I've seen.

I've seen a bunch of posts about this too. Does the melting still happen regardless of whether you're using Strimer cables or the original ones? I was looking at the Asus ROG Astral 5090.

From what I've seen, the Strimer cables shouldn’t pose more risk than other cables. Personally, I stick with the PSU cables just to be extra safe. I really wouldn’t want my 5090 frying just for some fancy lights!

Totally with you on that! I think I'm going to skip the Strimer cable too. Quick question, do you think the Strimer cables are worth getting for the motherboard and CPU instead? Just curious about your thoughts.

The Asus ROG Astral 5090 is actually designed to be much safer for those current issues since it can monitor each 12v pin and shut down if it detects a problem. You might want to consider undervolting the GPU to help with power consumption too. But honestly, I’d stick with the cables that came with your PSU. A little RGB glam isn’t worth risking your pricey GPU, trust me.
