Hey everyone! I just upgraded my PC to the 9800X3D and decided to go with a Peerless Assassin 120SE cooler to avoid the hassle and cost of an AIO. The installation was quite a challenge due to the tricky springboarded screws, but I managed to get it done. Now, I'm noticing that my idle temperatures are around 50-51C (123F), and under heavy load, like when I'm compiling shaders, they can spike up to 90-91C. While I know the 9800X3D can handle high temps, I'm a bit concerned about those idle numbers. Are they typical, or did I possibly mess up the thermal paste application? Should I take the cooler off to reapply the paste? I haven't encountered any crashes or shutdowns yet, so that's a relief. Thanks for your insights!

Yeah, 51C is perfectly okay for idle temps. You might just have a warmer chip. I use an AIO and mine sits around 45C when idle, but it’s all within a good range!
Your idle temps seem fine to me! I've got a similar setup and my 7800X3D idles around 40-45C. Room temperature can really affect your readings too; what's yours like?
We're just coming out of summer, so I'm guessing it's around 25-27C.
Everything sounds normal! Both your idle and load temps are fine. Just make sure you have good airflow in your case, as it helps air coolers perform better compared to AIOs.
Appreciate the reassurance!
Thanks! I figured the AIO might cool better.
