I've noticed a trend this year where tech interviews seem to involve a lot more take-home assignments. Some people are saying that interviews are becoming easier, while others feel like these take-home tasks have turned into unpaid side projects. It seems like the reason companies are shifting to these assignments is linked to AI, with the idea being that it's harder to cheat with take-home projects compared to live coding sessions. Has anyone else experienced this shift? What are your thoughts?

I don’t really get how take-home tasks are supposedly harder to cheat on. If you can use AI for these assignments, isn’t that just as effective as cheating in live coding? I think the idea is that since it's kind of an open book exam, if you can use tools to meet the project criteria, that proves you’re suitable for the role.

Right? It's like having a chef take 12 hours to prepare a dish and just bringing it back instead of cooking it on the spot.
