I've heard that Udemy courses might not be the best for learning programming, but what about getting into computer science? I'm interested in learning a few key courses related to CS, and I'm wondering if Udemy can be a good alternative to actually reading books. I recognize that books are incredibly valuable, but I struggle to motivate myself to read them. At least with Udemy, I feel like I could make some progress.

It really depends on what you're aiming to learn. Udemy can be hit or miss—some courses are awesome while others aren't so great. For a solid introduction to computer science, I recommend checking out Harvard's CS50X. It's free and only costs if you want the certificate. After that, you might want specific courses. Udemy does have some decent full stack development classes, but don't overlook YouTube for free resources!
While books definitely have their merits, I personally think that Udemy courses aren't suited for learning computer science in depth. For a more thorough understanding, you should definitely tackle problem sets like those offered by MIT Courseware. It’ll really help solidify your knowledge through practice.
I totally get that! Learning a new language while also trying to learn something technical can be tough. Just remember, books can be really valuable alongside other resources.
Thanks for the tip! I'm really interested in operating systems and networking, do you have any suggestions for resources in those areas?
