Hey everyone! I just picked up a USB desk fan (link below) and I'm curious about whether it's safe to plug into my PC or laptop. Can these types of fans cause any damage to my motherboard? I appreciate any insights! [Fan link](https://veli.store/en/details/kaemingk-sunkissed-iron-table-fan-blue-145-x-15-cm/?sku=8720725116061)

I'd suggest not plugging it directly into your PC. Instead, use a power adapter to avoid the risk of shorting out your USB port.

If the USB cable only has 2 pins, it's likely safe since it just provides power. Most small fans won’t pull too much wattage.

I'm curious if these fans are like those USB cup warmers that have been known to fry USB ports. It's worth checking!

In general, I wouldn’t plug novelty items into my computer. It can pose security risks and might strain the system unnecessarily.

What do you mean by security risks? Are you talking about physical damage to the computer or is it more about software?
