Backup Nameserver Options During Cloudflare Downtime

Hey everyone! I'm currently using Cloudflare to help manage some bots and AI that were really overloading my server, not to mention the extra security benefits. But after experiencing some downtime today with Cloudflare, I started to wonder about redundancy. If I set up NS3 as my server's nameserver, will that actively kick in, or does Cloudflare need to be completely non-responsive for it to work? I'd prefer to have at least a partial backup rather than nothing at all. Also, does anyone have tips on how to mitigate issues with Cloudflare if this happens again? I'm new to this, so go easy on me!

In situations where Cloudflare is failing, it mainly affects traffic that's proxied through them, indicated by the orange cloud next to your A record. We rely on scripts like Lexicon to modify DNS records depending on our needs, and thankfully in our case, Cloudflare’s API still worked, allowing us to disable the proxy. If Cloudflare's DNS fails completely, we have backup records ready to go at CDN77 to switch over to if needed.

Actually, during the downtime, Cloudflare was still resolving DNS correctly, so there wouldn’t be any need for NS3 to take over in that case. It seems that your issue wasn't related to DNS after all.
