Hi all, I'm Peter and I could really use some advice. I'm currently learning programming in school, focusing on C++ after having done some work in C last year. Right now, we're diving into strings, and I know we'll be tackling program optimization and memory management soon. While I'm eager to explore more complex programming topics, I often find myself confused and overwhelmed when I try to advance on my own. I'm trying to figure out whether I should stick strictly to my school curriculum or if I should also pursue extra projects—and if so, what kind? I'm also uncertain about my future career since I'm interested in AI, but I find backend development and game development much more appealing. I appreciate any insights!

Stick with the school program, but don't hesitate to explore on the side. If you enjoy games, try making some simple ones. It's a great way to learn and has been a classic approach for many aspiring programmers like myself.

I feel the same! Sometimes I worry I'm wasting time on things I won't need later. Just confirming that working on games sounds like a solid plan—thanks!
