Bazzite is Stuck in Emergency Mode After Deleting a Drive—Help Needed!

Hey everyone! I'm having a bit of a problem. I was trying to format one of my extra drives to use it with Linux. Since I couldn't get it to format in Linux, I went into Windows and deleted the partitions. Now, when I try to boot Bazzite, it goes straight into emergency mode and tells me, "cannot open access to console, the root account is locked." I'm confused because I didn't touch the boot drive at all. The only thing I can think of that might have caused this is that the drive I deleted was mounted in Bazzite. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I really want to avoid reinstalling everything!

You'll probably need to edit the fstab file to remove those deleted partitions. Check out the Arch Wiki on fstab; those instructions should also work for Bazzite. That could help you get back on track!

Thanks! I'll definitely look into that. I found out I can only boot into Bazzite if I select the (ostree 1) version when starting up.

Make sure your EFI partition still exists; losing it is a common issue when messing with drives. You need that partition for a system with two drives to boot properly!

It sounds like you deleted the EFI partition from that drive, which means your system has no bootloader to start up. Next time you're installing, make sure you distinguish between the EFI partition and your OS partition to avoid this mess. It's a common pitfall when dual-booting!

Yeah, the drive I deleted had nothing to do with the OS. It was a complete different drive.
