I'm assembling a new gaming rig focused on performance, especially for playing in 4K and VR. I already have the CPU, which is the 9800X3D, but I'm looking for recommendations on components. Specifically, I want a motherboard with a 10Gb LAN port, the latest PCIe support, a Gen5 SSD, and at least 40Gb USB capability. I come from a 3050 laptop and need something that can handle demanding tasks efficiently. Looking forward to your suggestions! Thanks!

If you're looking for both a 10Gb LAN and 40Gb USB, prepare to shell out some serious cash. I found a solid build guide with a reasonable motherboard here: [PCPartPicker Link](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BGWdWc). It's a bit pricey, but it's one of the better value options out there!
For your setup, I recommend looking at a B850 motherboard, but steer clear of Asrock or Asus brands. As for storage, skip the Gen5 SSD; they're overhyped unless you're into specific workloads. A good Gen4 SSD like the 990 Evo Plus strikes a nice balance of price and performance—perfect for gaming! For graphics, if you’re serious about 4K and VR, a 5070 Ti is decent, but aim for a 4090 or even a 5090 for the best experience and longevity.
Gotcha! I plan to run a lot of virtual machines and possibly set up a NAS and homelab soon. Is the Gen5 really that overrated? And how do you feel about the 4090?
I'm struggling to find a good motherboard with a 10Gb LAN option. Any tips?
Sounds like I need to make sure everything is durable then! Just nervous about the power supply and RAM longevity. How long do you think a 5080 would last?
