Hey everyone! I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU from a GTX 1080 to an RTX 5070 Ti. This means I'll also need to upgrade my CPU since I'm currently using an i7 8700k, which would bottleneck the new graphics card. Unfortunately, I'll have to switch motherboards too because mine doesn't support AM5 sockets. I'm considering the Ryzen 9 7900X, but I've heard mixed reviews, with some friends regretting not opting for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D instead. Others have suggested going with the Ryzen 7 7700, which I found for €170 on AliExpress, saving some cash for bigger upgrades down the line. What do you all think? Any advice on the best route to take?

The Ryzen 7 7700 is a solid choice, especially if you're gaming at 1440p or higher. It works well at 1080p too, though if you're leaning towards esports titles and want a bit more performance at 1080p, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D might be worth the investment.

I mostly play at 1080p but I want to upgrade to handle single-player games better. Based on what you said, should I just skip the Ryzen 9 7900X altogether?
